We are formally recognised as an Acknowledged religious Anglican dispersed Order of ordained and lay men,
single, celibate, and married, in the
Church of England, who endeavour to live according to the Rule of
Saint Benedict as expressed in the reformed (Trappist Cistercian)
tradition of Cīteaux (and our own Rule, as set out in our Governing
The Anglican Cistercians honour the long and treasured
monastic tradition of individuals who live single and celibate
lives. At the same time we believe strongly that the Church, especially religious communities in the Church of England, need to be open to the movement of the
Holy Spirit and support new emerging forms of Religious life.
Whatever form our relationships take, we honour each other
with the gift of charity and chastity, acknowledging that our love
of God must come before all else.
Men who are communicant members of the Anglican Church, and who live within the jurisdiction of a Diocese in Great Britain (i.e., England, Scotland, or Wales) are invited to discern a vocation with us. All applicants must be prepared to answer some necessary simple questions.
Those who are interested in exploring to joining our uncloistered Order, or simply want to find out about us, can apply to our Superior for detailed information:
